It also sets the magneto switch to zero. Especially since
the joystick's throttle input (collective) is reversed (as
it should be), it may happen that you have full collective
when you last flew an airplane. And I like the startup
sound. But you may set the magneto to 1, if you want. :-)

One of these fixes is rather important: the pilot view is too far back and you
can't look through the pilot's side window. Makes landing a lot harder than it
should be. The other two changes are trivial, but now that you are patching
anyway: I also fixed the aircraft mass, and allowed to open the backdoor ...
pure entertainment.
(The bo105 is often used as a rescue device, and patients are
loaded through this back door.)

Here is an archive of changes and additions to the JSBSim T-38. Most of the
upgrades are to the panel, which now has a throttle/flap quadrant with
clickable cutoff and starter switches, improved background art, EGT, Nozzle,
Fuel Flow, Oil Pressure and Fuel Quantity gauges. And the VOR needle works
now.
The FCS now models the flap/slab interconnect, which gives you extra nose-up
slab bias when the flaps are down

I've set up the VC view for the YF-23 and this required some small changes
to the model - the canopy hoop was too wide, so I had to narrow it a bit,
and I also had to make some of the cockpit surround parts double-sided as
there were some gaps when looking out. The pilot's also de-selected when
in view 0.
I've tweaked the YF-23 fdm a little as well, using the control input
scaling feature so I could increase the lift and drag of the ailerons.
This is so that they more closely match the flap characteristics and
improve the speed-brake stability (well, that's the theory;)
I've also used the scaling feature to tweak the anti-roll input fed into
the ailerons when the rudder control input is used - it's still not
perfect but using rudder input now produces less roll and is easier to
control.
Oh, and it goes faster too:) Infact, at lowish level (2000ft) the max
speed I could get out of it, without reheat, was 1.39 Mach, which
compares well with the figure I found of 1.4 Mach (although the alt
wasn't given). The performance figures I've put into the fdm are
actually at the service ceiling of 55000ft (about 1.9 Mach with reheat).

here's an update for the YF-23 model - I think I've managed to find a way
around the black fringe problem.
The fix for the black fringe problem has turned out to be quite easy -
instead of putting the detail textures on a completely transparent
background, where 0.00 = fully transparent & 1.00 = fully opaque, I've
made the background 0.01 transparent. Basically, I just created a new
layer in the Gimp, made it 0.01 transparent and then merged the layers.
This will have added a 0.01 colour cast to the other transparent area -
used for the canopy - but I don't think that'll be a problem. I could
just cut that bit out and do it again but I couldn't see any difference,
and at just 0.01 I wouldn't really expect to.
The fix is most noticable around the McD/Northrop lettering, on the front
of the nose, and on the AF801 bits on the tailplanes.
I also re-mapped the intakes to darken them (but I'm still not quite happy
with them) and I've darkened the jet caps as well, so you can't see that
there're just blank plates there when the sun's shining up them.

John Stockhill: While messing around with an aeromatic generated Lancaster model I
discovered that there are a few inconsistencies in keyboard.xml. It allows
you to reduce the magneto setting on 4 engines, but will only increase it
on 2, which tends to result in a somewhat circular path from the end of
the runway :-)
