DireKtion

DireKtion is a sattelite navigation project based on data from OpenStreetMap.org. It aims to provide a free (not just as in beer) sattelite navigation solution for cars, bikes, walkers, in fact, any vehicle/person that can carry a linux device.
Long term, the algortihm will be adapted to cater for more specific needs, such as walkers, who would prefer to use footpaths than busy main roads, cyclists who can only use certain footpaths, or even people confined to wheelchairs who cant negotiate flights of stairs.
